Title: The Distant Hours

Page 100, ‘Lack of potatoes left a person’s stomach growling, but absence of beauty hardened the soul’. Even if this author wants to describe paint dry I think I’d read it. I just can’t wrap my head around the way Mz. Morton describes her thoughts. Her words have my brain wandering from the reading into never never land often, I find myself having to read and reread these pages, and each time I am like wow, total mind blow.

As the story progressed, I wasn’t sure what journey this author was leading me down, but she tied it all together at the end like a neat, little bow. It was so good I almost cried.

So, what happened was there were three sisters that had been life- long residents of a famous castle. Their late father whom had made the castle famous had passed on a long time ago. He had been a world-renowned author and inspirational to many a young reader, leading one such fan, Edith (Edie), to the front steps of his castle for a tour. This meeting began quite a journey between the sisters three and Edith.  As the story progressed more was revealed about how deeply inlaid were the ties that bound Edith to the sisters and also the castle. Much more complex than just Edith’s love of an iconic story.

This novel was absolutely beautifully crafted and I highly suggest reading this story.
