I am really sad that I have to put this book down. Not for want of it being thoroughly entertaining. Because it was. I’ve always loved the Wizard Of Oz movie and have heard rave reviews of the musical version of Wicked. In fact, I’ve always wanted to go but never have. So I was delighted to find that the story derives from books. There is actually a series of 4 novels and one on the way.
Where I ran into problems is in the first book of the series, Wicked, on the bottom of page 218. In my own personal life, I myself have a higher power. I’m not bringing religion into this discussion. Just a higher power. As I was saying, on page 218 Mr. Maguire wrote an unsavory (to me) spin on the phrase ‘thank God’ I am very turned off by the following portion of text “‘No, Papa isn’t there now, thank-thank whoever, whatever, thank nothing.” Continued Elphaba…’
