I feel absolutely blessed to be able to support Nana Poudel in his endeavors and I hope you all will as well! I am excited at the prospect of getting to know each and every one of you through this fund-raising effort. I truly look forward to discussing some really good books with y’all. (And some not so great)

To explain my website I would compare it to a literary social media that one needs to be a member of in order to participate. Level 1 membership will enable your comments and level 2 membership will enable your comments and serve as a personal book blog. This is fun to do in a book club setting and then it would be a tool for the book club to discuss online. I personally use my blog as a journal to remember how I felt about the material I have read in the past. A reminder of my thoughts and feelings about an author and/or book. (The search bar is a handy tool for this endeavor.)

I  am gifting Nana Poudel 100 memberships to apply towards his fund raiser. The first 50 signups will donate at 50% to the fund raiser, the following 50 signups will donate at 10%. The donate button that you will have access to after you become a member will be donated at 100% to Nana Poudel’s  furniture fund. I hope we can all join together and help Nana Poudel build upon his firm foundation of recovery and help him to achieve his goal of having a place to call his and his family’s own.

My name is Nana Poudel, and I work as a kitchen team member in a restaurant. Born and raised in Nepal, I completed my high school diploma before immigrating to the USA in February 2013 for a better future. Until 2020, my life was stable, but by the end of that year, I fell into alcohol addiction, which led to immense pain, financial struggles, and separation from my wife and son.

On January 4, 2024, I woke up in a hospital bed and, for the first time, truly realized what I had lost. I prayed for one last chance and took action. I entered Gateway Lake Villa, completed a three-week rehabilitation program, and then moved to Way Back Inn in Maywood, where I learned discipline and the fundamentals of living a meaningful life.

On October 17, 2024, I moved to Hendrickson House of Sobriety in Chicago, where director Steve Hendrickson guided me in financial planning and goal-setting. I set short- and long-term goals—first achieving financial stability, then focusing on my lifelong dream of studying forensic science. After ten months of rebuilding my life, I enrolled in an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice at Post University.

Now, I am excited about my studies and reuniting with my family, who will soon immigrate to the U.S. because of my sobriety. I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported my recovery. My journey proves that with discipline and perseverance, change is possible
