Title: No Bad Deed

I thought this sounded like a great book when I came across this and read the back cover. And as promised scene 1 is of a lady whom is driving down dark, back roads that weave through a heavily wooded area at night. She comes across a man beating on a defenseless woman along the side of the road so decides to stop and help. She even goes so far as to exit her vehicle, giving chase to the two into the woods directly after the man picked up the woman and tossed her like a rag doll down the steep embankment towards a riverbed. So now she is keeping her distance while yelling at the murderer to knock it off. His response is that the woman is almost dead and then puts it into the hands of the driving lady whether this woman lives or dies. If she lets the woman die she will escape the wrath that he’ll surely return to reap on her. However, if she makes efforts to save the woman he’ll be back for his revenge.

Yikes! Sounded great but here’s the issue. Why didn’t the man just finish the woman off? I mean he was there; he had the knife in hand, he was in the midst of his opportunity and was already in the home run of achieving his mission. One more swipe of his knife would have done it. But no he goes and gives the main character quite a bit more control of this situation than what I find to be believable.
