Title: The Wise Women
This was such a feel-good book! I immediately got sucked in and was rootin’ for Clementine to stick up for herself and not let her swindling husband get away with his deceit from the beginning! What a slap in the face it must have been to have the man she believed to have been her former landlord show up on her doorstep bearing an eviction letter. What!?
Instead of investing the moneys into buying their home like the husband was supposed to have done he had instead secretly sunk all the house moneys into his start up business, Aquaveg. (Terrible name, right?) Not only that but he was super late in paying the rent, hence the eviction notice.
And this, ladies, is a prime example of why the mens shouldn’t be expected to fill the antiquated role of ‘wearing the pants in the family.’ Much as Clementine’s mother would have encouraged on her previously popular advice column that read like it was straight from the 50’s. Encouraging women to submit to their husbands and such. Here-in these pages lies a prime example of why not to.
This book also showcased the peace and love that can come from accepting one’s family members exactly as they are. Flaws and all.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
