Title: The Nancy Drew Notebooks #14 The Funny Face Fight
Today, April 28th, 2025 is the 95th anniversary of the publication of the first Nancy Drew book! Like, ever. I always thought Nancy Drew was from when I was a kid (the ‘80’s) but it turns out even my grandma was younger than Miss Drew.
This book proves even an election in the form of class president could split apart this previously tightly knit class of third graders. Much as our tightly knit country split apart during our own last presidential election. However, instead of bullets flying, these candidates were caught taping mustaches on each other’s election posters! Serious stuff that needed a sleuth to decipher the clues.
I cannot believe my library was only in possession of 3 Nancy Drew books when there was altogether a total of 175 published books and they were wildly popular amongst us youngsters in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. I remember rows upon rows of Nancy Drew books to choose from. Another sign of the changing times.
Fun fact: these books were all ghostwritten by a collection of authors and published under the pseudonym of Carolyn Keene.
