House Rules

Author: Jodi Picoult
Title: House Rules

This is a very in-depth study into the psyche of a young boy who has Asperger’s and his stressed-out mother and brother. Jacob, the young boy in question is accused of murdering his social skills tutor. I really was enjoying this story immensely until I got close to the halfway point and it all of a sudden just felt like overkill. I feel like the story became stagnant with describing yet again all this troubled young boy’s symptoms and not progressing the story line. I am sorry to say it lost my interest and I had such high hopes for this manuscript. It is good, if you sit down with this book and make it through the other side please leave your thoughts.

Because it’s Jodi Piccoult I gave it another go. My newest obstacle was that I couldn’t understand why Jacob’s mother was so upset that he was being investigated in the murder when she was the one to tell the detective in the first place that she feared it could have been her son.

Regardless I gave it a pretty good college try. Better luck next time.
