Title: In The Garden Of Spite

I gave this well over my customary 100-page-college-try. This book is based on a real-life woman serial killer that haunted the Chicago/Indiana area in the late 1800’s early 1900’s by the name of Belle Gunness. The story of how she came to be so spiteful towards men was incredibly traumatic. The setting for the beginning of the book was in Norway where at the time there was a social caste system and Bella, formerly known as Little Brynhild, found herself impregnated by a boy in a higher social class then she, and he was not excited about the prospect of becoming a daddy. Especially with someone of her class. So, he lures Little Brynhild to an isolated lake where he proceeded to beat the baby out of her. Thankfully they skipped past that scene to the one where she was dragging herself from the spot of attack and, in a state of numb, buried her baby.  Seemed like she buried a big part of herself that fateful night as well.

Alas, after having slept on the story I have decided it’s a bit too dark for my tastes. But if this is your bag, then please, carry on.
