Happy Friday the 13th!!

I had really high hopes for this one. Great reviews. The writing up to page 22 was magnificent. The problem arose on page 22 where the author describes one of the characters committing the perfect crime when he was 7. How he did it was by taking a ball of crushed ice, dunking it into a gas can, lighting it, and sling-shotting it through the window of a police station. Caused quite a ruckus. This is not verbatim, but pretty close.

I call bs and here’s why. The crushed ice. Was it a piece of an icicle or like a handful of snow? Dipped in a gas can the author states, makes me think this little flammable ball of frozen ice may just explode upon ignition. How did it get through the window with a slingshot? Did it break the window? If it was a hand sized ball of ice lit on fire wouldn’t the ice melt before touching the building? Then I wondered if maybe someone had left the window open. But if it’s cold enough for ice, then usually you don’t see too many open windows out and about. In light of this I must bow out. Better luck next time.
