One Perfect Lie

Title: One Perfect Lie

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. Mostly. Imagine a man in disguise as a replacement high school teacher for the newly vacant position. But this man is not whom he claims to be. His real name is not Chris and he was not a real teacher. He, in fact, had an ulterior motive for this elaborate charade he was enacting.

Now, imagine it is nigh on the anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing and some bad guys are planning on celebrating with a bang of a show, themselves. Will the good guys figure out in time who and where and why and what is all planned on time to stop the bad guys? The clock is ticking and so is the the fertilizer fueled bomb!

I have some bad news amidst all the excitement. I am unsure how to feel about the fact the law enforcement groups set up their home base on the front lawn of the abandoned home of the bad guys. Law enforcement was worried about tipping the scoundrels off for fear of a random change of plans, making it harder to catch them in the act. Yet they pitched a big white tent on the front lawn of their farmstead? Then, the good guy gets into a helicopter to thwart the bad guy’s plans. After being told explicitly to return to base at the farmstead, him and the pilot knowingly disobey orders and continue on their flight trajectory? I can see if they were in a vehicle this could be believable. But in the air? Especially with the bomb threat, this just does not ring true. Wouldn’t the government shoot them out of the air for flying an unauthorized flight pattern? An ATF agent cannot go rogue and just fly wherever and whenever he pleases. Can he?

However, if you’re one that doesn’t mind looking the other way on a few inconsistencies for the higher purpose of the story than you’ll definitely love this one!
