Holy Guaca-mole! This was such a fun and twisty and unexpected story! Elizabeth’s secrets from her past are being dug up, written about and being used to terrorize her 2 decades after the fact. Fun fact: there is no statute of limitations on murder and Elizabeth is freaking out. Twenty years ago, while fighting off her high school teacher, Mr. Sawyer, she accidentally killed him and covered it up.
Afterwards, Elizabeth skipped town to the big apple where she herself became a professor, teaching a creative writing course, never looking back. One of her students, using an alias, begins submitting chapters for grading that mirror identically the events leading up to the day Mr. Sawyer met his day of reckoning.
Who could know these intimate details? The finger could be pointed in many different directions but she has no proof who is the one responsible for holding the truth of her past over her head.
Trying to put the clues together brings her home to face the not only the past, but her alcoholic and dying mother. While visiting does Elizabeth meet the man of her dreams?
And is it just me? Or is it a bit disturbing that he is the son of Mr. Sawyer?
