I kept seeing Toni Morrison’s name splashed around town on the books I’ve been reading. I requested this book and settled in for an enjoyable read. However, the scene with the woman and the cat seemed a bit like beastiality. But then I figured I was just trippin’. Maybe I had misunderstood what I was reading? I must have. So I continued. When I was closing in on the end of the book I arrived at the scene where Cholly raped his daughter. I just couldn’t anymore. This wasn’t my jam. And it won the Nobel Prize in 1993? Weird. Why?

I am still disturbed by the images Toni Morrison portrayed. Yikes!
