Title: The Poison Garden
Alex Marwood, until this point, has been to me an unknown author. I came across the name as a reviewer for a title by another author I adore, so in the cart the book went and home it came. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised.
I congratulate Alex Marwood on how intelligently she set the stage for such a difficult concept to wrap one’s mind around. Cult life and cult ideals. Ms. Marwood carved a believable plot with her words of a harrowing narrative that is applause worthy. I can only imagine the dark alleys her brain must have travelled to be able to perfect this idea, this story that described the annihilation of a fairly large cult and the aftermath of these actions. I feel that to be able to put herself into this mind frame must have been an incredible mental journey to set forth upon, and to come out the other side with such a masterpiece can only earn a wow from me.
These are my thoughts now, but when I first began reading, it was with skepticism. I was keen to find the first illogical chink in the story’s armor that would bring this whole thing down to its knees. But I never found one, to me the mentality rang true. Occasionally a bit disturbing, but I think that it was fitting.
Although the storyline isn’t up my normal alley, I shall endeavor to read another from this beautiful mind. I highly recommend The Poison Garden.
