Title: This is our Story

I just finished this novel and wow, Mizz Elston, you did it again! I first came upon this talent through a book my uncle borrowed me from his personal library. It took me a long time to finally read that initial book, First Lie Wins, but am so happy I stopped putting it off and got to it.

So, about this story, I loved the whole premise. It combines the law, (literally, the heroine works in the courthouse) a mystery of who-dunn -it and a beautiful romance. I even found humor in Mizz Elston’s words. If I may, I’d like to share with you a funny tidbit from the book. Let me set the scene. Kate, the main character, works with a lawyer in the d.a.’s office and had found this little hidden gem of a food truck (or something similar) off the beaten path. It was so good soon it became popular with all the courthouse employees.

The premise of the story is of 5 fast friends that go out into the woods hunting and only 4 emerged. The question of the week is ‘Who pulled the trigger?’ And were they really as great of friends as everyone thought? So, needing a place to meet up that is outside the public eye and that affords them privacy from the nosy townspeople they meet in the parking lot of the food truck. Oddly, they never eat, just huddle up and discuss and argue amongst themselves. What is it that they are saying that is so important and secretive that they are meeting in the middle of nowhere over?

I just thought it was funny that they thought they were being all nonchalant about their rondevous’ when, in actuality, they might as well have set up a picnic in the middle of the courthouse.

Thank you for reading my thoughts on this stellar novel and hope to hear from you with your own. Have a lovely day!!
